I read about her story online, I didn't think much aside from sending her a tweet because I didn't know her or how to get in touch with her. I just said, you know, that I feel very bad and sorry for her situation and the one thing I can do to help is to make music with her. That's what I offered.

Kesha Rose Sebert, known mononymously as Kesha (formerly Ke$ha), is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper.

Friendship[]

  • Following Kesha's loss at a February 2016 trial against her producer and alleged sexual assaulter, Dr. Luke, Zedd told her via Twitter that he was very sorry to hear about the situation, even offering to produce a song for her.[2]
  • Zedd brought Kesha onstage to perform "True Colors" during his Coachella set on April 16, 2016. In light of her trial, he also allowed her to modify the lyrics to say "I've escaped my capture / And I have no master" (as opposed to the original "We've escaped our capture / Yet we have our masters").
  • A picture of Zedd with Kesha in the studio, captioned with a crystal ball emoticon, was posted onto Twitter on April 25, 2016.[3]
  • Kesha and Zedd recorded a studio cover of the latter's song "True Colors" (from his sophomore album of the same name) in 2016, which was released on April 29 of that year. The two of them also performed the song live at the Los Angeles Film Festival following the premiere of Zedd True Colors on June 2, 2016.
