Julia Michaels is an American singer and songwriter who was born in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles, with her family. In 2010, at age 16, she recorded her debut single "Born to Party," which aired on MTV's reality series The Hills and on ABC Family's The Lying Game. Later that year, she released a self-titled EP through SA Trackworks. In 2014 she provided vocals for the Borgeous singles "Wildfire" and "Invincible" and again collaborated with them in 2015 for their single "They Don't Know Us".

In her late teens, Michaels met songwriters Joleen Belle and Lindy Robbins, with whom she wrote "Fire Starter" for Demi Lovato and "Miss Movin' On" for Fifth Harmony. Other credits include Selena Gomez's "Slow Down" and Nicole Scherzinger's "Run." Recently, she co-wrote the track "Warpaint" with Belle and Nolan Lambroza, which is included on Kelly Clarkson's seventh studio album, Piece by Piece.[2]

Michaels also provided vocals for two True Colors tracks: Straight Into the Fire and Daisy. She also co-wrote the lyrics for Papercut[3].
